Looking back at my initial influence for this project which was the Mythbusters experiment using glowing, UV liquid to simulate the the spread of germs at a dinner party, I created these images using the inside of a glow stick to represent the germs upon the objects. I chose these objects (and will chose more to photograph later on) because they're common household objects that hold lots of bacteria, viruses and germs that we wouldn't think about when using them. The first image is a toothbrush and the second is a classic kitchen sponge.
The photo above is a toothbrush with the inside of a glow stick dotted on it in places where the most microbes are found upon that particular object. I like the emphasis of the glow on the bristles and the subtle hints on the handle because it gives the image a focal point as well as mimicking where the germs would migrate the most if it were to be a real experiment using real germs.
This photo os of a kitchen sponge after I threw a load of the inside of a glow stick on it! I like this image because you can't tell what object the 'germs' are covering, it's very ambiguous.
