OCD-UK - Awareness Week

For OCD Awareness Week OCD-UK are re-launching their poetry project.
-OCD-UK would like to hear from those who are affected by OCD.
-The poems could be emotional, sad, witty or in whatever mood one would like to express themselves in.
-Poetry can be a very successful medium of expression about subjects that may be difficult to portray in other formats.
-Poetry can depict word that we all may be experiencing in our heads.
-OCD-UK are hoping to use the submitted poems to highlight the impact that OCD can have on those that suffer from it by creating a book of poems to show what it can be like to have it.
-The book would be very beneficial in terms of showing people without the illness what OCD actually feels like.
-The book of poems would be a useful tool in training to five potential therapists or volunteer helpers, who don't suffer from the condition, a first hand insight into how OCD can affect someone's state of mind.

Poetry and photography have gone side to side in lots of cases, so although when I read that OCD-UK were doing a poetry project I was excited, I didn't want to jump into the cliché ideas. Words and visuals compliment each other both artistically and in an explanatory manner. I will look at the poems that have been submitted and see what I can do in terms of using them or similar ways of expression to develop my work. I can't upload and of the poems I've read on the OCD-UK website to my blog because of copyright reasons.
