Photographing Microbes a New Way

Since I was unable to get into the labs to take some photomicrographs, I thought of new ways for me to take photos of microbes. I thought of microbes that we can actually see with the naked eye and came up with the obvious idea of rotting, gone off and bacteria thriving food. I've left out some food to rot and I won't look at it until 1 week is up, hopefully by that time reactions would have occurred and I'll be able to see and photograph some marvellous colourful and texturised microbes formed within or on top of the old food. I left bread to rot because that rots quickly and forms strong green colours and patterns. I left red onion chutney and mango chutney because they're very sugary so I assumed something would happen to them but I've never seen rotting red onion and mango so that will be interesting. I left some grated cheese because it reminded me of some earlier work I looked at by Jasper Johns, the lines of the grated cheese mimicked the lined pattern of one of his paintings and I thought after a while the cheese would have developed some colour making it yet more similar to his painting. I've also left some chopped lettuce because unlike the other things I've left which I imagine would go green, the lettuce began green then went a pinkish colour and is now progressing to brown. And lastly I've left a glass of milk to see what happens with that. Once A week is up I will visit the products again and photograph the results, I Will then proceed to thinking of how I can creatively incorporate these images or findings into producing more interesting visual work for this project.
